FIRMINO MISSES, ALISSON SAVES ONE AS BRAZIL EDGE PAST PARAGUAY TO SEMIS OF COPA AMERICA ON PENALTIES
Brazil faced Paraguay earlier today in the first semi-final clash in the ongoing Copa America staged in Brazil.
The Selecao were left frustrated as the Paraguayan defended the entire game.
Brazil had over 70% possession, over 10 shots on target and more dangerous attacks but efforts proved futile.
Fabian Balbuena tripped Firmino right on the edge of the 18-yard box. He was sent off because he was the last man.
There was no extra time so penalty shootouts started right after the second half.
Willian, Marquinhos, Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus all scored their penalties, Firmino the only culprit to miss the penalty.
Paraguay, on the other hand, missed two penalty kicks in the shootouts with the culprits being Gustavo Gomez and Derlis Gonzalez.
Brazil won 4-3on penalties and will face Argentina or Venezuela in the Semis.
