Naby Keita hasn’t gotten an easy run of things at Liverpool so far. The Ex Leipzig man has just not been able to stay fit long enough to string together a good few games.
But the tides appear to be altering for the Guinean
international as he’s put together two remarkable performances in recent weeks,
and is winning over fans.
Fans always know what Keita has, but his massive injury
record over the last two years has left a few things to be anticipated.
Now the No.8 has reacted to a question he was asked on how
he feels about not being automatically selected after staying fit and impressive
in recent weeks.
a happy Naby Keita |
“The key thing is to avoid picking up injuries. Any player in our squad, when they’re at 100%, has a great chance to start the games,” he told the Metro.
“It doesn’t affect me [his price-tag]. I always had the ambition to play for a big club and I’ve worked hard to get to where I am today.
“It was difficult getting the injury but I’ve worked hard to get back and get to the condition I’m now in. I’ll be continuing in that vein to avoid injuries and hopefully, perform week in and week out for the team.”
It’s absolutely a good thing that Keita is quite humble
about his chances so far, and it’s prudent that he identifies the injuries that
have gotten in the way.
If Keita is able to stay fit for long enough, I’m sure he’ll
establish himself as one of the best offensive midfielders in the Premier
League before we know it.
